Holi is an Indian festival. At this festival, people use colours and play with thorn. Holi is a major festival celebrated in India and Nepal. Holi is the festival of colours.

The festival is widely celebrated for a duration of two to 3 days. Children are especially very excited about this festival.


They make various preparation like buying water balloons, buying pichkari (water guns) etc. It is a festival Of great fun. People celebrate Holi by pouring coloured made of organic material on each other many people also throw coloured water.

Various food items are specially prepared on holi. Holi is celebrated in the spring season because it’s for welcoming the harvesting season. It is a major Hindu festival. There is also a tradition of preparing a Sweet dish called gujiya. It starts with a smearing of colour and pouring water on each other. The throwing of water and colours comes to an end in the afternoon.


People wash clean and put on clean clothes. Delicious dishes are prepared, and feasts are held.

At many places, drink is prepared from ‘Bhang’; it is believed to be the favourite drink of Lord Shiva. People eat, drink dance and make merry.
